A Super Fast Resolution Recap
I’m certain that all bloggers live with the nagging fear that if they never published another sentence, the world would continue on unaffected.
We might overvalue our contribution to society a bit.
But recently I’ve had as many as FIVE people ask me about lack of posts, and none of those people was my mother. Yup, clearly I’ve made my mark on the world.
So, for the five people who miss me (you are my favorite people in the whole world, by the way): right now I’m trying to stay away from my computer as much as I can. I’m trying not to get sucked into the world of Facebook and Twitter and Pinterest and instead I’m trying to really focus on my family and friends and on conquering my clutter-filled house as much as I can.
I’ve also been trying really hard to stick to my New Year’s resolutions, and that takes TIME. But honestly, I’m really pleased with how my resolutions have played out this year. In fact, the only resolution that I’ve truly and completely bailed on is my pledge to blog about my resolutions. Oh, the irony.
So here’s a quick state of affairs:
January: Early to bed…
• I’ve been going to bed VERY early in the mornings. Usually about 2:00am. Darn that Mad Men – I’m almost done Season Five, then I plan to sleep for a week.
February: …Early to Rise
• Harbour has been very good about getting me up early, despite how many TV episodes I’ve watched the night before.
March: Living with Intention
• Every night I intend to stay up and find out what Don Draper will do next, and then I follow through on that intention. Not quite as spiritual as I had originally thought…
Luckily for me, the rest of my resolutions can be accomplished between episodes, even if sleep deprived …
April: Total Garage Makeover
• DONE! We now have a *CAR* in the garage! See pictures below as proof of this astounding feat. Honestly, last January you could barely walk from one side of the garage to the other – you had to literally climb up and over mounds of stuff. Now you only have to climb over a car to reach the other side of the garage, and that’s far more socially acceptable.
May: Gardening with the Girls
• This backyard is a miserable failure. The two times I went back this year to cut back at some of the jungle, my allergies kicked in a BOTH times I ended up with a brutal sinus infection. However, our garden is doing amazing despite my negligence (thank you heat + rain!) AND my husband threw a net over our cherry tree, which means for the first time EVER, we had sweet cherries fresh off the tree before the birds ate them all.
June: Master the Sewing Machine
• I desperately wanted to sign up for a quilting class that ran during June but it just didn’t work out. However, I did get my sewing machine and serger serviced and I have even managed to sew a pretty shirt and hem some ripped jeans into shorts.
July: Decluttering
• July is to declutter my home? Awesome! I’ve been recently inspired by my co-worker’s minimalist home and I’ve been trying to purge tons of our stuff. Perfect timing for this month’s resolution!
I’ll have to write more about decluttering later this week. In the mean time, if you have a favorite decluttering guide (30 bags in 30 days and more of those types of things), please let me know here or on Facebook or on Twitter. I need inspiration!
