An Easy Babywearing Halloween Costume
Looking for a quick and easy Halloween costume that is baby-carrier friendly? It’s actually not that easy. Most costumes are so bulky that a baby doesn’t fit in the carrier once the costume is on. And trick or treating with a stroller is no fun at all – seriously, does every second house have stairs?
Last year I tried to incorporate the carrier into the costume – I put my daughter in a green ring sling and she was a pea in a pod. It was cute for the party we went to, though she did spend most of the afternoon trying to pull the “peas” off of her shirt.
This year, I realized that it would be easier to decorate the baby carrier rather than the baby. Because I didn’t want to ruin my carriers, I wondered if I could make some sort of cover that could slide over top of the carrier body – this would work great for any carrier that has detachable straps, like the Catbird Baby Pikkolo, Beco Gemini, Beco Soleil, or any mei tai. I decided to give it a shot and make an owl costume for our storefront window, and it turned out great! Check out what I did below to see just how easy it was!
