Emeibaby Review
First Impressions of the Emeibaby
When the carrier first came, it looked complicated. There were numbered stickers and lots of fabric and rings and straps and it all seemed a bit crazy. But really, a quick glance at the instructions showed me how to set it up for a newborn, and I grabbed the nearest new baby and tried it out (benefit #1 of a babywearing store: easy access to lots of adorable little bundles of joy). Delightful. I liked that I could have the baby’s legs out of the carrier because I find it much easier than legs in. (With legs tucked inside a carrier, you have to be very conscious of where the baby’s legs are and be certain that fragile feet and ankle bones aren’t bearing the baby’s weight).
I did have a bit of trouble doing the back clip up – I wish both sides of the buckle could be loosened away from the straps so that I could snap it together more easily. I also didn’t love the excess fabric that was left over on the body, but I followed the directions and bunched it against the carrier, securing it with the snaps so it would be out of the way.
The carrier was lovely and supportive and I didn’t want to give the sweet baby back to his mother. But I’m the first to acknowledge that trying out a carrier on a newborn baby isn’t the best test – they really don’t weigh much at all and I’m sure I could find a tea towel supportive enough for some little squishes. I was eager to try out the carrier with my own two and a half year old daughter.
