Emeibaby Review
The Toddler Test: My Two Year Old in the Emeibaby
Harbour was more difficult to get in. First, you cannot adjust the carrier’s body while the child is on your back (unless your double jointed, I suppose). This meant I had to put her on my front first to do the adjustments while she did her best to claw my face off and escape (refer to paragraph two). The fabric is clamped tightly in the rings, which is great because you know that it’s secure but a bit more difficult to manipulate when your child is punching you in the kidneys.
Seriously, did Harbour not get the memo? I have repeatedly told her that if she refuses to be worn at least briefly in every new-fangled baby carrier that comes around, I will be forced to have another baby and that means she will be the middle child and have to deal with all the lifetime of emotional turmoil that comes with being ignored.
Rather than subjecting myself to more violence, I grabbed my business partner’s youngest instead – let’s name her The Sweetheart. The Sweetheart is about seven months younger than Harbour but nearly the same height and weight. She sat patiently on my front, then let me throw her on my back too. I fiddled with the fabric to let it out enough, and was satisfied that it’s a decent carrier.
Since that first week, I’ve been able to wear Harbour successfully several times in the Emeibaby – always on my front because apparently back carries are akin to torture in her mind. I don’t always get her in a good seat on the first try but letting out fabric from the rings to make the body deeper usually works.
Sadly I can’t find any of the pictures I took for this post – all I have is this picture is of her passed out at a street festival. On my front, of course. And I admit that she’s not even in well, but that’s because I put it on after she fell asleep s0 that I could get the shot. Regardless, I was sad to take her out when we went home because it’s so rare to get these sleepy babywearing cuddles anymore.
This carrier would be a good choice for babywearers that want a buckle carrier and insist on knee to knee coverage and a deep seat for their children. It can be used from birth to 33 lbs, so if you have light children like I do, this should last into the toddler years.
A full list of stores in North America that carry the Emeibaby can be found on the Emeibaby website (click on the stores.pdf doc and scroll to the last page). Thanks again to Emeibaby for sending me a free carrier for review.
